Services at Serenity Mesa Recovery Center
There are as many roads to recovery as there are recovering people. We focus on individualized programming that includes:
- Sober living environment where residents can live anywhere from 90 to 120 days in a safe, drug/alcohol free environment.
- Individual and group therapy.
- Offsite meetings (12-step and other community support groups).
- Giving back to the community by participating in community service.
- Learning new hobbies and trades, and ways to keep the mind and body stimulated and healthy.
- Education opportunities (high school, GED and college).
- Job readiness and job placement.
- Life skill classes on topics such as financial management, cooking healthy meals, meal planning and grocery shopping, time management, completing household chores, setting boundaries, tools to develop effective coping skills, building and maintaining healthy, positive relationships, and other skills that people need to learn to be effective members of society.
Therapy Services
Clinical or counseling services include individual, relationship therapy, group therapy, educational groups, outreach, and referral services. Other therapeutic services may be provided by a third party and may be held at another location. An example of some of our clinical services are:
Specialized services for all residents (both individual and group)
Motivational Interviewing
Assessments (ASAM, Casey Life skills)
Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach (ACRA)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
The Seven Challenges
Nurtured Heart Approach
12-Step Programs
Relapse prevention
Peer Support Services
Trauma-informed groups
Youth Support Services
Residents will be assigned a case manager who will work with them weekly. The case manager will work with residents on the education component of the program, extra-curricular activities, community service work, life skills, and preparing for and helping them find a job. The case manager will also help them with their treatment plan and help establish an after care plan for when they leave the facility.
Education Services
All residents are expected to work on their high school education if they do not already have a high school diploma. We partner with RFK Charter School and the process is on-site with an RFK teacher. Education needs will be evaluated upon admission into the program and the services offered will be based on the resident’s needs. If a high school diploma has been attained or a resident is in the process of completing one, college classes will be available when appropriate.
Life Skills Services
Serenity Mesa will provide a variety of life skill classes on campus. These classes include everything from cooking, grocery shopping, balancing checkbooks, managing finances, job readiness, and healthy living.
Medical Services
Medication Management:
We will not be prescribing medications at the facility; however we will partner with doctors and clinics to provide medications for residents who require medication. This includes behavioral health medications as well as medically assisted treatment options for opiate addiction and alcoholism. We will dispense medications to residents as prescribed by their doctor and the resident will take the medication under supervision by a staff member. We will need a copy of the prescription from the doctor and the medication must be in original container upon admission. Residents will need to sign a medical release form upon admission.
Psychiatry Meds Management:
If a resident needs medically assisted treatment as part of their treatment plan (i.e., Suboxone or Vivitrol) then we will work with medical centers and practitioners to provide this medication and to manage this part of their treatment plan. Residents will be responsible for paying the costs associated with medically assisted treatment; however, all attempts will be made to enroll the resident for Medicaid if they are eligible.
Health and Wellness:
We believe that a well-rounded approach to recovery gives people the best change to sustain long-term success. Traditional treatment options (IOP, family and group therapy, MAT) are available as well as alternative options such as exercise (on and off campus). These services will be offered as funding allows and as we find availability for these services in the community.
